Can you tattoo over scars?
Yes, you can tattoo over scars. Although it depends on the type, age, and condition of the scar. Once a scar is fully healed (usually after 12–18 months), tattooing over it is generally safe. Flat, smooth scars tend to take ink well, while raised, textured, or keloid scars can be more unpredictable and may not hold ink evenly. The tattoo may look slightly different over scar tissue, but with the right design and technique, it can blend beautifully or even help cover the area. It’s best to consult first so I can assess the scar in person and plan the design accordingly.

Does diabetes affect getting a tattoo?
Having diabetes doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t get a tattoo, but it does require extra care. High blood sugar can slow healing and increase the risk of infection, so it’s best to get tattooed only if your diabetes is well-controlled and your circulation is good. Avoid areas like the feet or ankles if you have poor blood flow or neuropathy. Always choose a clean, licensed studio and tell your artist about your condition. Eat beforehand, keep your blood sugar stable, and watch your tattoo carefully as it heals. With good management and hygiene, most people with diabetes can get tattooed safely.
Can i get tattooed on my Period?
Being on your period doesn’t prevent you from getting a tattoo, but it can make the experience more uncomfortable. Hormonal changes during menstruation can increase pain sensitivity, cause fatigue or cramps, and sometimes lead to slightly more bleeding. It’s safe to get tattooed, but you might want to plan around heavy-flow days or bad cramps for comfort. If you go ahead, eat beforehand, stay hydrated, and let your artist know if you’re feeling off. Most people still get through it just fine.
How long does it take to heal?
A full heal time for a tattoo is 3-4 weeks. Typically the scabbing portion is done within 2 weeks, but the skin is still healing.

Can I get color if my skin is darker?
Yes, absolutely! People with dark skin can get color tattoos. The key is choosing pigments and designs that complement the skin’s natural undertones. Bold, saturated colors like reds, oranges, purples, and some blues tend to show up best, while pastels and very light shades may not stand out as much. The trick is using strong contrast, clean linework, and thoughtful placement so the design stays clear and vibrant. When applied correctly by an experienced artist, color tattoos can look stunning on any skin tone.
Do color tattoos last?
Yes, all tattoos fade over time, including color ones. How much they fade depends on several factors. Sun exposure, skin tone, ink quality, application, and aftercare all play a big role. Bright colors like red, yellow, and orange tend to fade faster than darker pigments like black, blue, or green. Keeping your tattoo moisturized, avoiding excessive sun, and using sunscreen help preserve the colors longer. With proper care, color tattoos can stay vibrant for just as long as any tattoo.
